Elemental Skincare Sponsors The Healing Room

Sophisticated and elegant in its new packaging, WA’s only certified organic skin care range will now be used exclusively in the Breast Cancer Foundation of Western Australia’s Healing Room.

The Healing Room was established in 2005 by a group of dedicated volunteers with the aim of providing free complementary therapies to women and men with breast cancer.

In 2006, the Healing Room has grown to include Reiki, Naturopathy, Massage, Meditation, Pranic Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage.  All volunteers are trained and experienced in their therapies and have a specific awareness of the health issues faced by women and men with breast cancer.  Practitioners will now be able to use Elemental’s certified organic massage oils, body lotions and essential oils for their treatments.

“We are proud to be supplying our products for the services being given in The Healing Room.  Many dedicated people are providing such an important aspect of care for people with breast cancer,” said Deborah Oberon, founder and proprietor of Elemental Skin Care.

Elemental Skincare was first established in 1995 by Deborah, in response to her increasing concern about many of the ingredients commonly found in skin care products. According to the UK based Environmental Working Group, more then one third of all personal care products contain one or more ingredients that are currently classified as potential carcinogens. Ingredients commonly found in skin care products are also used in products such as anti-freeze and brake fluid.

Says Deborah: “The skin is the body’s largest organ and chemical compounds contained in products applied to it are absorbed directly into the blood stream and deposited into the major organs. The average person will expose themselves to up to 175 different chemicals in the course of a day through the application of personal care products!”

“A really important part of what we are trying to do with the Elemental   certified organic skin care range is to educate people to be more careful about what they are putting on their skin.  The skin care industry is massively under-regulated which is why companies can get away with using ingredients that have potentially negative health effects.”

Elemental Skincare is certified by NASAA (National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia), one of only two of Australia’s six organic certification bodies that is internationally accredited.

“It can be really difficult to decipher ingredients on skin care product labels, so using certified organic products is a great way to have peace of mind, particularly as they are made from ingredients that have been farmed without the use of pesticides and fertilizers.   It is the safest type of skin care there is,” says Deborah.

The majority of the Elemental range was first certified by NASAA in August, 2004.  To coincide with the new branding, the team at Elemental, after years of dedicated research have at last created stable cream formulas that meet the organic certification standards, meaning the entire Elemental range is now fully certified organic.  To launch the new formulae and new branding, a presentation of the range to be used in the Breast Cancer Foundation’s Healing Room will be made on Thursday the 14th of December at 10am.
